The second widest option in Liberty’s carving-oriented collection of all-mountain skis, the Evolv 100 offers a versatile blend of performance characteristics for those of us who put an emphasis on carving but enjoy going beyond the groomers. The Evolv 100 boasts a fairly stiff flex and burly construction while remaining impressively lightweight, thanks to an efficient and effective use of metal. Liberty’s VMT 3.0 core features three vertically laminated strips of an Aluminum Allow which get sandwiched between bamboo and poplar. This construction provides tremendous power and stability while offering tremendous weight savings in comparison to a more traditional metal construction. At 100 millimeters underfoot, this ski can really go anywhere. The Evolv 100 is wide enough to handle soft or variable snow with ease, but is narrow enough to retain great torsional stiffness for carving on firmer snow. A flatter tail and a small amount of tip rocker ensure a nice long effective edge from powerful carves while providing just enough edge release when it’s needed in off-piste conditions. This ski is a unique combination of a carving ski and a freeride ski; two types of skis that don’t often get looked at in the same light.
